Mediation

Mediation

If you are involved in a family law dispute and wish to resolve it peacefully, quickly, and economically, you should consider participating in mediation. Attorney, Zoila Pimentel, is a Supreme Court certified Family Law Mediator. A mediator is a neutral professional that assists the parties in settling their disputes. If an agreement is reached during the mediation, the mediator shall prepare a written settlement agreement that can be filed with the court. If some issues are resolved but the parties still have disagreements, a Partial Agreement may be prepared detailing only the resolved issues.

Judges in family law actions generally order the parties to participate in mediation before setting the final hearing. The parties may choose a private mediator or make an appointment with the mediation unit of the court. While mediation sessions within the courts are usually limited to 2 hours, sessions with a private mediator, such as Ms. Pimentel, may be much longer and continue another day if needed. Ms. Pimentel’s schedule for mediation appointments can also be more flexible with dates and hours.
