Adoption of Children

Attorney Zoila Pimentel handles adoptions where the legal parents and adoptive parents are in agreement or where a relative of the child may have legal standing to adopt. The most common of these are adoption by stepparents. A Home Study by a social worker is part of the adoption process, except for adoptions by stepparents or relatives to the 4th degree. The written consent of children who are 12 years or older is also a prerequisite for adoptions by party agreement. The firm is not an “adoption agency.” We do not seek out adoptable children for potential parents wanting to adopt.
